The power of perception on the food we eat

Thanks to the power of perceptions, colour affects our taste buds in ways you would not expect.

An interesting study tested our perception of taste by serving the same yoghurt in a variety of different colours.

The results shows that colour affects our taste buds in ways you would not expect, thanks to how our brains perceive colours and their relationship to food.

The researchers found that eating white yoghurt with a white spoon made the yoghurt appear to be denser and more expensive. Pink yoghurt with a white spoon made it seem sweeter.  Eating the same yoghurt with a black spoon made it seem less sweet, and with a blue spoon it tasted saltier.
