Mix an active lifestyle with plenty of exercise, a healthy diet and good nutrition to maintain good health for life.

Exercise is a crucial part of a maintaining good health for life.  Combine it with a healthy diet packed with all your nutritional needs and you will be bursting with energy and feel fantastic inside and out.

Any kind of exercise will do so pick something you enjoy be it swimming, walking, the gym, Pilates, a yoga or dance class.  Make it social time too – ask a friend to come along or join a local walking group and meet some new people.

Here are a few reasons to add more exercise to your life.

  • Exercise helps to control weight – it encourages your body to metabolise what you eat more effectively and burn calories.  The greater your muscle mass, the more energy they burn all the time, which means you will be burning more calories even at rest.
  • Exercise boosts your immune system and keeps you healthy –  Science has shown that it  increases the number of T-cells and antibodies in the immune system which together fight bacteria, viruses and other nasty invaders that cause colds and illness.
  • Exercise reduces the risk of many diseases and ongoing health complications –  It improves the function of the heart, lungs and circulation so you reduce your risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and strokes.  It strengthens your bones so protects against osteoarthritis, and improves the condition of your skin and hair
  • Exercise improves your mood and reduces stress and anxiety –  After exercising the body releases endorphins, the body’s natural happy chemicals, into the blood stream.  Exercise also reduces cortisol levels in the blood, which are caused when we are subjected to too much stress and anxiety.
  • Exercising will boost energy levels – the more you do, the better you will feel.
